What is a Deep Plane Facelift?

This type of facelift surgery avoids the problem that typically occurs with traditional facelift technique – the dreaded tight, overfilled look. The main tenet of the deep plane technique is to lift a deeper layer in the musculature of the face, restoring facial rejuvenation and ensuring you never look tight.

How Is It Performed

Deep plane facelifts are performed as an inpatient (in hospital) procedure, either using an operating theatre in a fully accredited Hospital.

The procedure is performed under a general anaesthetic, given by a fully qualified Anaesthetist, to maximise patient safety and comfort, and ensure optimal outcomes.

The deep plane facelift (rhytidectomy) technique tackles the area between the SMAS layer and deeper muscle layer that is responsible for facial expression. Dr Jeremy Hunt’s deep plane facelift (rhytidectomy) procedure aims to allow for the release of ligaments tethering in the deep plane region, releasing the marionette lines, resulting in natural movement, reduced appearance of sagging skin, and accentuated facial contour.

Dr Hunt will have to create a small incision along the course of your sideburns, around your ears, and possibly one beneath your chin. These incisions are strategically placed in the natural contour of your ears and chin.

Through these incisions, Dr Hunt will elevate deeper facial tissues and secure them and remove any excess fat. Any excess face and neck skin is trimmed away, and the wounds are sutured closed. In some cases, your plastic surgeon may insert a drain tube to prevent any buildup of excess fluid.

When can I go home after surgery?
